About the role

  • Financial Crime Data Scientist developing analytical solutions for financial crime detection. Collaborating with operations and IT to enhance efficiency in a hybrid work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop analytical approaches to reduce volumes to be processed, automate transaction analysis (detecting recurring patterns) and improve operational productivity
  • Implement prioritization and targeting mechanisms to focus efforts on the highest-value alerts
  • Work closely with operations teams to translate field issues into concrete analytical solutions and support processing activities
  • Help implement solutions that address regulatory, operational and efficiency issues
  • Work closely with the second line of defence, project teams and IT within a structured governance framework (committees, follow-ups, deliverables) to ensure compliance, quality and robustness of solutions

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in data science, statistics, computer science, mathematics or a related field
  • A minimum of six years of relevant data modelling or data science experience
  • Academic specialization beyond the bachelor’s degree level
  • Experience delivering analytical solutions with concrete operational impact (volume reduction, automation, efficiency gains)
  • Experience in quickly translating field issues into analytical solutions by working closely with operations
  • Knowledge of French is required
  • Intermediate knowledge of English due to the nature of the duties or work tools or because the position involves interactions with English-speaking partners, members and/or clients
  • Expertise in data science (machine learning, statistics) and a good understanding of the limitations in an operational context
  • Proficiency in Python, analytical development practices (Git, MLflow, MLOps) and proficiency in distributed environments (Spark)
  • Knowledge of Azure / Databricks environment
  • Knowledge of financial crime regulatory frameworks (FINTRAC, FATF)
