About the role
- Science writer-researcher fact-checking and scripting Earth-science videos for Electrify, a digital media company investing in YouTube creators. Sourcing credible visuals and research for Astrum Earth’s educational content.
Responsibilities
- Fact-check scripts, animations, and edits for long-form and short-form YouTube videos covering geology, meteorology, paleontology, and related subjects
- Provide lists of reference material for scripts
- Give feedback to script writers and editors, including suggestions for improvements or additional information
- Source relevant images and video footage for edits
- Locate and obtain high-quality images and video clips from scientific institutions and stock footage libraries
- Verify the authenticity and accuracy of visual content
- Ensure sourced material complies with copyright laws and usage rights
- Collaborate with the video production team to ensure visuals enhance the narrative and educational value
- Research existing and new ideas
- Research and write scripts for Astrum Earth
Requirements
- Strong background or degree in science, physics, geology, paleontology, or related fields
- Writing experience in science articles, blogs, copywriting, newsletters, magazines, scripts, or similar
- Excellent attention to detail
- Well-developed critical analysis skills
- Interest or experience in science communication and public outreach
- Passion for geology, meteorology, paleontology, and science in general
- Interest in or experience in YouTube video production (desirable)
- Experience finding archive material to illustrate scientific concepts (desirable)
