About the role

  • Intermediate Engineer at EXP working on electricity projects for diverse clients in building and industry with an emphasis on critical infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct visual inspections and field surveys required for project design.
  • Design and produce building electrical plans and specifications, including lighting systems, power distribution, fire alarm systems, electrical installations and other related systems, in compliance with the Building Code and applicable standards.
  • Be called upon to perform specialized electrotechnical studies and produce associated technical reports, including: arc flash analyses, grounding studies (MALT), protection coordination and selectivity, short‑circuit and load calculations.
  • Also be called upon to design normal and emergency distribution networks for critical infrastructure such as data centers, hospitals and other strategic facilities.
  • Use specialized software to model low‑ and medium‑voltage electrical networks.
  • Ensure deliverables, schedules and the quality of produced drawings and technical documents are met.
  • Perform required site construction inspections for projects within their specialty and prepare the corresponding site visit reports.
  • Lead kick‑off and coordination meetings, ensure coordination with other disciplines and ensure client and professional requirements are met.
  • Ensure that the execution of engineering work complies with EXP’s quality standards, applicable standards and contractual documents.
  • Keep knowledge up to date on equipment, standards, technologies and best practices related to their specialty.
  • Make technical recommendations as part of various assignments and mandates.
  • Perform any other related tasks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (electrical engineering, building engineering or other equivalent qualification).
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in building electrical engineering, ideally in engineering consulting, including knowledge of low‑ and medium‑voltage power distribution.
  • Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ).
  • Experience in the design of critical infrastructure such as data centers, hospital facilities or high‑density technological environments (an asset).
  • Experience in arc‑flash risk analysis for industrial, commercial or institutional installations (an asset).
  • Good knowledge of design and drafting software, notably Revit.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable building codes and standards.
  • Proficiency with electrical modeling software such as ETAP, EasyPower or equivalents.
  • Excellent command of French, both spoken and written.
  • Advanced proficiency in English, particularly for collaboration with partners in Canada, the United States and internationally (an asset).
