About the role

  • Electrical Engineer in building and industry sector at EXP, focusing on electrical projects and infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct visual inspections and field surveys required for project design.
  • Design and produce building electrical drawings and specifications, including but not limited to lighting systems, electrical distribution, fire alarm systems, electrical installations and other related systems, in compliance with the Building Code and applicable standards.
  • Perform specialized electrotechnical studies and produce associated technical reports, including: arc flash analyses, grounding studies, protection coordination and selectivity, and short-circuit and load calculations.
  • Design normal and emergency power distribution networks for critical infrastructure such as data centers, hospitals and other strategic facilities.
  • Use specialized software to model low- and medium-voltage electrical networks.
  • Ensure deliverables, schedules and the quality of produced drawings and technical documents are met.
  • Conduct required site inspections for projects within your specialty and prepare the corresponding visit reports.
  • Lead project kickoff and coordination meetings, ensure coordination with other disciplines and ensure client and stakeholder requirements are met.
  • Ensure that engineering work is executed in accordance with EXP quality standards, applicable norms and contractual documents.
  • Keep up to date with equipment, standards, technologies and best practices related to your specialty.
  • Provide technical recommendations for various files and mandates.
  • Perform any other related tasks associated with the position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (electrical engineering, building engineering or equivalent qualification).
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in building electrical systems, ideally in engineering consulting, including knowledge of low- and medium-voltage distribution.
  • Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ).
  • Experience in the design of critical infrastructure such as data centers, hospital facilities or high-density technology environments (asset).
  • Experience in arc flash risk analysis for industrial, commercial or institutional installations (asset).
  • Good knowledge of design and drafting software, notably Revit.
  • Proficiency in codes and standards applicable to buildings.
  • Proficiency with electrical modeling software such as ETAP, EasyPower or equivalents.
  • Excellent command of French, both spoken and written.
  • Advanced proficiency in English, particularly for collaboration with partners in Canada, the United States and internationally (asset).
