About the role

Responsibilities

  • Own the capital model, including capital flows, portfolio allocations, and performance benchmarking
  • Integrate data-driven methods into field engagement, due diligence, and portfolio value creation activities
  • Monitor investment portfolio performance
  • Analyze risks and performance, prepare forecasts, and perform reconciliations across financial information systems
  • Ensure the ongoing assessment and valuation of individual investments
  • Maintain relationships with portfolio investment leads and coordinate value-added support for their growth strategies
  • Enhance program forecasting, analysis, and reporting
  • Develop reports, dashboards, AI queries, and analyses
  • Provide senior management with advanced forecasts, scenario modeling, and portfolio reporting
  • Support improvements to governance, systems, and operations through special projects
  • Serve as a key resource for the Investment Team and liaise with technology, risk management, finance, and corporate reporting teams
  • Contribute to building and mentoring the new team
  • Collaborate effectively with EDC clients and internal and external stakeholders

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of relevant experience in private equity, venture capital, or corporate investment
  • Proven ability to take ownership of portfolio performance, conduct in-depth analysis, and drive systems innovation
  • In-depth knowledge of the Canadian private equity ecosystem
  • Hands-on experience with the governance of an equity investment program and portfolio performance
  • Experience with data management and technology tools related to equity investments
  • Knowledge of asset classes, their participants, and industry practices
  • Proven experience in the ongoing assessment and valuation of investee companies
  • Experience engaging regularly on governance and the context of financial investors
  • An active, verifiable industry network relevant to delivering the team’s mandate
  • Strategic mindset with excellent communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills
  • Ability to foster communication among technology, finance, risk management, and investment teams
  • Deep expertise in investment analysis, portfolio construction, and capital modeling
  • Data expertise supported by emerging technologies and AI
  • Strong understanding of investment accounting principles and concepts
  • Strong technical and data skills, including advanced Excel, query development, dashboard creation, and AI capabilities
  • Ability to work legally in Canada at the time of application preferred
  • Ability to meet government security screening requirements
