About the role

  • Lead financial innovation initiatives at Export Development Canada, focusing on product strategy and development. Collaborate cross-functionally to deliver value-added products for clients and partners.

Responsibilities

  • Design and/or operate systems that leverage internal and external data to monitor, analyze, and assess product performance, effectiveness, relevance, and strategic alignment with business strategy.
  • Lead thorough, structured product reviews by connecting product performance with customer and user needs, market trends, competitive context, risks, and opportunities to produce actionable recommendations.
  • Identify and evaluate options to improve, reposition, consolidate, transition, or retire products, conducting clear analyses of benefits, risks, impacts, dependencies, and trade-offs.
  • Lead product discovery and innovation ideation activities, including collecting, aggregating, and prioritizing ideas; developing hypotheses; performing market intelligence; and validating customer, partner, and market needs.
  • Define, with business teams, product vision, strategic direction, and roadmap considerations while ensuring alignment with EDC priorities and product and portfolio strategies.
  • Develop forward-looking analyses, options, recommendations, and decision-support materials to inform prioritization, investment choices, and strategic direction for products and initiatives.
  • Communicate market trends, strategic insights, and product adoption signals to guide roadmap priorities and foster a shared understanding of product strategy impacts.
  • Lead collaboration with subject matter experts and cross-functional partners to gather requirements, define product parameters and design considerations, and determine implementation modalities, including operational readiness and scalability requirements.
  • Design and implement new or enhanced financial products by assessing client needs, user experience (UX), pricing, risk profile, financial impacts, operational integration, and readiness requirements.
  • Coordinate and oversee pilots, launch readiness, and go-to-market activities, including objectives, tasks, success metrics, dependencies, and adoption considerations.
  • Integrate EDC’s risk management frameworks, policies, guidelines, and governance expectations into product design, development, monitoring, and lifecycle decision-making.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in commerce, business administration, finance, marketing, or a related field.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of progressive experience in product management, product development, innovation, solution delivery, or financial services.
  • Deep knowledge of financial products, including financing, insurance, guarantees, equity investments, and international trade.
  • Strong financial, analytical, strategic, and research skills, with the ability to turn internal and external insights into options, recommendations, and decision-support materials.
  • Proven experience in stakeholder engagement, strategic planning, and influencing executive-level and cross-functional audiences.
  • Customer-focused approach and ability to design financial products that deliver value for clients and users in a cross-functional environment.
