Seasonal equipment operator maintaining Ontario highways, roadways, and infrastructure assets for Webber, a heavy civil construction company.
Operating snow-removal and mobile equipment while performing repairs, traffic control, and emergency response.
Responsibilities
Maintain contracted assets including roadways, medians, signs, guardrails, fences, bridges, tunnels, and vegetation
Remove snow and ice using snow removal and sanding equipment
Maintain and repair highway and other surfaces, signs, guardrails, fencing, lighting, potholes, striping, reflectors, litter, and debris
Operate vehicles and equipment for surface and right-of-way maintenance and repair
Repair and maintain slopes, berms, culverts, and drains
Control vegetation appearance and growth
Set up and remove traffic controls
Transport crew and equipment to work sites
Participate in emergency response rotations, including overtime, evenings, weekends, and holidays
Perform other assigned duties
Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent
Minimum of three (3) years related work experience in construction, road maintenance, commercial/industrial repair, maintenance or landscaping (outdoor work) (Preferred)
Valid Ontario Class DZ driver’s license and acceptable driving record
Successful completion of training in traffic control methods, first aid, transportation of dangerous goods, WHMIS, and job-related Occupational Health
Effective oral and written communication in English
Basic mathematical skills
Ability to follow policies, procedures, written and oral instructions, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Ability to adapt to rapidly changing demands and priorities
Skill with hand and power tools, traffic control devices, tractors, graders, mowers, sweepers, augers, and other mobile equipment
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted
Ability to use manual and powered pneumatic, hydraulic, gas, and electric tools and equipment
Ability to recognize hazards and maintain safety awareness
Ability to wear job-appropriate personal protective equipment
