About the role

  • Seasonal equipment operator maintaining Ontario highways, roadways, and infrastructure assets for Webber, a heavy civil construction company. Operating snow-removal and mobile equipment while performing repairs, traffic control, and emergency response.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain contracted assets including roadways, medians, signs, guardrails, fences, bridges, tunnels, and vegetation
  • Remove snow and ice using snow removal and sanding equipment
  • Maintain and repair highway and other surfaces, signs, guardrails, fencing, lighting, potholes, striping, reflectors, litter, and debris
  • Operate vehicles and equipment for surface and right-of-way maintenance and repair
  • Repair and maintain slopes, berms, culverts, and drains
  • Control vegetation appearance and growth
  • Set up and remove traffic controls
  • Transport crew and equipment to work sites
  • Participate in emergency response rotations, including overtime, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Perform other assigned duties

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of three (3) years related work experience in construction, road maintenance, commercial/industrial repair, maintenance or landscaping (outdoor work) (Preferred)
  • Valid Ontario Class DZ driver’s license and acceptable driving record
  • Successful completion of training in traffic control methods, first aid, transportation of dangerous goods, WHMIS, and job-related Occupational Health
  • Effective oral and written communication in English
  • Basic mathematical skills
  • Ability to follow policies, procedures, written and oral instructions, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to adapt to rapidly changing demands and priorities
  • Skill with hand and power tools, traffic control devices, tractors, graders, mowers, sweepers, augers, and other mobile equipment
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted
  • Ability to use manual and powered pneumatic, hydraulic, gas, and electric tools and equipment
  • Ability to recognize hazards and maintain safety awareness
  • Ability to wear job-appropriate personal protective equipment
