Seasonal equipment operator maintaining roads, bridges, and roadside assets for Webber, a heavy civil infrastructure company. Removing snow, repairing surfaces, and operating maintenance equipment across Ontario.
Responsibilities
Maintain contracted assets including roadways, medians, signs, guardrails, fences, bridges, tunnels, and vegetation according to contract standards
Remove snow and ice using snow removal and sanding equipment
Maintain and repair highway and other surfaces, signs, guardrails, fences, lighting, potholes, striping, reflectors, litter, and debris
Oper vehicles and equipment for surface and right-of-way maintenance and repair
Repair and maintain slopes, berms, culverts, and drains
Control vegetation appearance and growth
Set up and remove traffic control
Transport crew and equipment to work sites
Participate in emergency response rotations as needed, including overtime, evenings, weekends, and holidays
Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent
Minimum of three (3) years related work experience in construction, road maintenance, commercial/industrial repair, maintenance, or landscaping/outdoor work (preferred)
Valid Ontario Class DZ driver’s license and acceptable driving record
Successful completion of training in traffic control methods, first aid, transportation of dangerous goods, WHMIS, and job-related aspects of Occupational Health
Ability to communicate effectively in English, orally and in writing
Ability to perform basic mathematical functions
Ability to follow policies and procedures consistently
Ability to understand written, oral, and diagram-form instructions and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Ability to adapt to rapidly changing demands and priorities
Skill using hand and power tools, traffic control devices, and mobile equipment including tractors, graders, mowers, sweepers, and augers
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted
Ability to use manual and powered pneumatic, hydraulic, gas, and electric tools and equipment
Highly developed safety awareness and ability to recognize and avoid hazards
Ability to communicate safety instructions with coworkers
Ability to wear job-appropriate personal protective equipment
