About the role

  • Senior Threat Researcher investigating AI-enabled cybercrime for Flare, a cybersecurity SaaS company. Presenting threat intelligence and advising customers, ISACs, and executives on autonomous attacks.

Responsibilities

  • Track the misuse of AI systems using Flare's decade-long archive of cybercrime intelligence
  • Serve as Flare's primary subject matter expert for customer RFIs and questions related to threat actors' use of AI
  • Identify emerging threats and develop briefings, research, and presentations on AI-enabled cybercrime and autonomous systems
  • Advise customers with sales and customer-facing teams on AI-related threats, risks, and defensive strategies
  • Deliver regular threat briefings on cybercriminal misuse of AI
  • Produce original research on autonomous AI systems, identity-based threats, AI in dark web and Telegram ecosystems, and emerging AI-driven attack chains
  • Present research at industry conferences, ISAC meetings, customer events, and executive briefings
  • Translate technical findings into board-level business risk for CISOs and executive leadership
  • Collaborate with marketing and sales to drive thought leadership, customer relationships, and pipeline growth
  • Represent Flare at conferences, trade shows, and industry events
  • Establish and own a 6–12 month AI threat research roadmap
  • Become the technical expert for strategic customer engagements involving AI threats and autonomous cybercrime

Requirements

  • Experience working with cybercrime data and in fast-moving research organizations
  • Hands-on technical depth in the cybercrime ecosystem, including stealer logs, credential and identity threats, underground forums and markets, malware, command and control, and threat actors and infrastructure
  • 3+ years of experience in law enforcement, intelligence, or security roles
  • Track record of original research and public footprint, including published work, conference presentations, or media citations
  • Threat intelligence experience from a cybersecurity vendor, government cyber organization, or established independent research organization
  • Ability to work with structured processes and ambiguity in a startup environment
  • High standard for defensible, first-to-market research
  • Ability to work occasional after-hours to respond to fast-moving threats
  • Nice to have: experience leveraging AI for detection and classification
  • Nice to have: experience working with product, marketing, or customer success teams
  • Nice to have: deep threat intelligence or cybercrime experience
  • Nice to have: software engineering or DevOps experience
