About the role
- Editor polishing investing and retirement content for The Motley Fool Canada’s financial information website. Fact-checking, copy editing, and publishing articles in WordPress.
Responsibilities
- Support the free website, fool.ca
- Content-edit articles about investing and retirement planning to ensure they flow well, are interesting, well written and logically sound
- Copy edit articles to ensure they are free of grammatical and spelling errors
- Publish articles in WordPress after adding and checking required metadata, including images, stock tickers and stock ownership disclosures
- Work with the managing editor to understand investing concepts and identify factual errors or compliance or regulatory concerns
- Provide feedback to the managing editor about writers and created content
- Provide feedback to writers to help improve their writing
Requirements
- Prior experience as an editor, ideally of online editorial-style content
- Expertise in grammar, writing style and financial fact-checking
- High level of organizational skills
- Ability to self-motivate and stay on track to hit daily deadlines
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Strong communication skills
- Curiosity, flexibility and a good sense of humor
- Candidates must be located in Canada for consideration
- Familiarity with WordPress
- Some knowledge of SEO best practices
- Some knowledge of large-language model AI tools
- Experience with collaboration tools such as Slack and Google apps
