About the role
- Senior Embedded Software Developer building TLS and UTM features for Fortinet’s FortiGate firewall. Developing secure C-based software for enterprise network protection.
Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain software powering the TLS stack and UTM feature set
- Stay current on application-layer protocols and software practices, and suggest team improvements
- Promote and uphold best coding and design practices
- Provide product improvement suggestions based on hands-on use of Fortinet products
- Research and define new technology areas to enhance existing or future products
- Re-evaluate the design and implementation of current code as needed
- Develop features for FortiGate’s Unified Threat Management suite, including Anti-Virus, Web Filter, Data Leak Prevention, and Anti-Spam
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in C/C++/Golang/Rust development
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Experience developing software in Linux or UNIX-like environments
- Knowledge of TLS, TCP/IP, POSIX APIs, and socket programming
- Familiarity with source control systems such as Git
- Ability to quickly adapt to new technologies and methodologies
- Understanding of networking and security concepts, especially in TLS stack
- Experience with scripting languages such as Shell, Python, or Perl
- Basic understanding of Linux/UNIX server or system management
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
