About the role

  • Software Tester responsible for validating AutoVu's innovative license plate recognition system. Collaborate with development teams to conduct comprehensive testing and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

  • Understand the various usage contexts of our systems through close collaboration with stakeholders
  • Develop high-level test strategies to validate new hardware and software system features during the development phase
  • Perform functional, exploratory, and creative testing on the different components of a license plate recognition system (cameras, client/server applications, web services, etc.)
  • Document defects identified during testing and track them through to resolution
  • Assist in debugging and troubleshooting defects
  • Install and calibrate equipment to perform performance tests in a controlled lab environment and on a test vehicle under varied operating conditions
  • Analyze and document performance test results and provide recommendations to improve the systems
  • Innovate to enable automated collection of additional performance and stability metrics for the product
  • Propose and contribute to the creation of new test tools (software, electrical, mechanical) to streamline existing processes
  • Develop and maintain test automation scripts to reduce manual effort, improve continuous testing processes, and increase our proactivity in responding to anomalies detected in real time by our centralized dashboard
  • Participate in the review of technical documentation

Requirements

  • Degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Motivated, team-oriented, with strong communication skills
  • Self-directed, resourceful, and methodical, capable of working on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience in test planning and design, documenting test scenarios, and executing tests in a multi-layered environment
  • Analytical mindset and/or strong attention to detail, with solid problem-solving abilities
  • Valid driver's license
  • Comfortable with installing various electronic or mechanical components and performing hands-on tasks
  • Good understanding of testing methodologies
  • Experience with Windows and Linux operating systems, including configuration, administration, and troubleshooting
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts and IP protocols, with the ability to configure and troubleshoot networks
