About the role

  • Senior bilingual payroll administrator processing compliant payroll for GHD’s Canadian division. Managing high-volume multi-province transactions, records, inquiries, and payroll improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Import, balance, and transmit biweekly payroll for more than 1,000 multi-province employees
  • Administer end-to-end payroll transactions and employee records, including new hires, terminations, status changes, leaves of absence, compensation updates, RRSP/TFSA contributions, banking changes, and Records of Employment
  • Review timesheets, calculate overtime and statutory holiday pay, and enter, reconcile, and import employee expenses
  • Provide advice and guidance to stakeholders using independent judgment
  • Participate in payroll system enhancements, testing activities, and future payroll-related projects
  • Respond to employee and stakeholder payroll inquiries and resolve issues within service standards
  • Improve payroll processes, controls, and service delivery while maintaining confidentiality and compliance
  • Own the quality, accuracy, and security of assigned work and escalate complex matters appropriately

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience processing payroll for more than 1,000 employees
  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience in Payroll in a complex, high-volume, multi-provincial environment
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation, taxation, employment law, and employment standards
  • Completion of PCP designation is an asset
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and prioritization
  • Ability to solve problems independently and collaboratively
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English & French
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, Power Query, and data analysis
  • Experience with ADP GlobalView, SAP SuccessFactors, or other integrated payroll and human resources management systems
  • Knowledge of Employment Standards, CNESST, and general HR policies
  • Experience supporting process improvement initiatives, system implementations, or transformation projects is considered an asset
