About the role
- Machine Learning Specialist developing and deploying innovative ML/DL solutions to monitor space environment at NorthStar Earth & Space. Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to address space traffic management challenges.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and validate machine learning and deep learning models
- Deploy these models to cloud infrastructures or on embedded/edge devices
- Develop robust, reusable software components
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team
- Maintain continuous scientific monitoring and staying current with literature
- Evaluate solution performance using simulated and real-world data
- Clearly document algorithms, workflows, and results
Requirements
- Master’s degree or PhD in Machine Learning, Physics, Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Aerospace, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the field
- Bilingual in French and English (written and spoken)
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
- Strong fundamentals in machine learning, probability, statistics, and optimization
- Hands-on experience with deep learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch), Python and scientific libraries, and development and debugging of custom models
- Solid understanding of deep learning architectures
- Ability to design proofs of concept with production constraints
- Good software engineering practices
- Assets: experience deploying models within data pipelines, knowledge of high-performance computing, interest in or knowledge of orbital mechanics, experience with large-scale data ingestion
