About the role
- Operator Assistant supporting paperboard packaging production at Graphic Packaging International. Palletizing, labeling, quality checking, and maintaining safe manufacturing operations.
Responsibilities
- Perform manual labor duties in a fast-paced manufacturing environment under tight production deadlines
- Palletize, wrap, strap, and label loads
- Ensure all required quality checks are performed according to SOPs
- Maintain cleanliness of the work area by removing stray cartons, sweeping, and performing related tasks
- Safely perform tasks on and around moving machinery and equipment
- Follow all company policies, procedures, and GPI safe work practices
- Perform other duties as required and assigned
- Support Finishing department operations to exceed customer expectations and align with business, cultural, financial, and operational objectives
Requirements
- Prior exposure to manufacturing strongly preferred
- Must be able to read, interpret, and complete information sheets/forms
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand/power tools preferred
- Excellent dexterity and hand-eye coordination required
- Excellent communication skills: speaking, writing, listening, and reading
- Basic computer skills
- Basic math skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time (8–12 hours)
- Ability to perform awkward and/or repetitive movements, including pushing/pulling, bending, twisting, and above-shoulder lifting
- Ability to routinely lift and occasionally heavy lift up to 40 lbs.
- Ability to work safely in a noisy environment with fluctuating temperatures
- Willingness and ability to work all shifts, including days, afternoons, evenings, 12-hour shifts, rotating shifts, weekends, and statutory holidays
- Ability to work in a 24/7 manufacturing environment
