About the role

  • Area Manager leading DNV’s Business Assurance and risk-management operations across Canada and the United States. Owning regional P&L, growth, operations, and a 120-person workforce.

Responsibilities

  • Implement the Business Assurance Strategy across North America
  • Own overall financial, operational, and strategic objectives across Canada and the United States
  • Own the P&L for both countries and drive profitable growth
  • Oversee logistics and operational performance
  • Develop new business opportunities and execute the business strategy
  • Lead a business generating approximately 520 MNOK in annual revenue
  • Oversee a workforce of approximately 120 FTEs across Canada, the United States, and Mexico
  • Manage workforce planning, talent acquisition, resource allocation, and budgets
  • Deliver accurate monthly and quarterly business performance reports
  • Report to the Regional Manager, Americas
  • Lead change management, company growth, and sales improvement
  • Build the Business Assurance brand in the U.S. and Canada
  • Set business objectives, KPIs, and financial targets
  • Develop market growth strategies to expand revenue, profitability, and market share
  • Identify strategic partnerships and market opportunities
  • Lead budget planning, forecasting, and performance management
  • Drive operational excellence, resource optimization, and productivity
  • Oversee recruitment, talent development, and organizational capability growth
  • Prepare and present monthly and quarterly business performance reviews
  • Establish governance and reporting processes
  • Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Partner with regional and global teams on processes, systems, and best practices
  • Provide market insights and recommendations for strategy, service development, and commercial priorities
  • Champion the Business Assurance brand across the U.S. and Canada
  • Deliver against EBIT, sales, revenue, employee engagement, and customer satisfaction targets

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of three (3) years of leadership experience within the Testing, Inspection and Certification (TIC) industry
  • Extensive leadership experience with a proven track record of delivering business growth and operational results
  • Demonstrated understanding of managing a P&L and leading large, geographically dispersed teams
  • Experience driving organizational change, transformation, and market expansion
  • Strong commercial acumen, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
  • Results-oriented leader with a customer-focused and pragmatic approach
  • Willingness to travel up to 30% domestically and internationally
  • Proven ability to lead, inspire, and develop high-performing teams
  • Strong leadership presence and ability to manage organizational change
  • Business judgment and track record of delivering growth, profitability, and operational excellence
  • Ability to translate market intelligence and business insights into actionable plans and measurable results
  • Ability to build and maintain customer, partner, and stakeholder relationships
  • Ability to lead through complexity and respond decisively in fast-paced environments
  • Capability to drive digital transformation and leverage technology to improve efficiency, customer experience, and business outcomes
  • Strong understanding of Finance, Human Resources, Marketing, Operations, and Sales
  • Experience managing budgets, resources, and organizational priorities
  • Results-oriented, resilient, highly motivated, and committed to excellence
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and ability to drive innovation and execute strategic initiatives
  • Adaptable and forward-looking, with ability to anticipate market trends
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
