About the role
- DevOps Engineer operating multi-cloud Kubernetes infrastructure for InfluxData’s time-series platform. Automating operations and supporting highly available distributed services.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and extend foundational technologies for highly available, distributed customer services
- Design, implement, and operate large-scale, multi-cloud Kubernetes infrastructure
- Apply GitOps methodology
- Automate manual processes and refine existing automation
- Operate production workloads across managed and self-managed Kubernetes platforms
- Participate in a low-volume pager rotation
- Serve as a subject matter expert on Kubernetes and infrastructure operations
- Troubleshoot complex issues independently and collaboratively
- Participate in incident response, with incident commander experience as a bonus
- Collaborate respectfully across multiple engineering teams
Requirements
- Production-level experience with Kubernetes and surrounding ecosystems, such as Istio, Vault, and other Cloud Native technologies
- Experience with Terraform and other automation tooling
- Hands-on experience with production workloads in managed and self-managed Kubernetes platforms
- Experience with DevOps patterns including compute, storage, database, and network
- Experience with one or more of AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure
- Willingness to participate in a low-volume pager rotation
- Ability to serve as a subject matter expert in Kubernetes, infrastructure, and operational principles
- Methodical troubleshooting skills
- Bonus: experience maintaining and operating a SaaS environment

- Bonus: CI/CD experience, especially CircleCI or GitHub Actions
