About the role

  • Senior Underwriter, Commercial Lines at Canada's largest P&C insurer. Building broker relationships and managing underwriting processes for moderate-complex risks in a hybrid setting.

Responsibilities

  • Build long-term broker relationships through exceptional service and active engagement (visits, field underwriting, industry/marketing events).
  • Underwrite moderate–complex risks; analyze quotes, renewals, and policy changes; recommend innovative, data-driven solutions.
  • Coach and mentor the team to elevate technical underwriting and broker relationships; model a growth mindset.
  • Drive process and workflow improvements to boost efficiency and best practices.
  • Lead regional performance to meet service, production, and profitability goals.
  • Apply disciplined pricing and underwriting within guidelines and authority.
  • Quote, negotiate, sell, and authorize business to grow and retain profitable portfolios.
  • Arrange reinsurance and/or subscription as needed to find solutions for our customers and broker partners.
  • Maintain strong partnerships with brokers, reinsurers, and colleagues.
  • Use systems for inquiries, filing, underwriting, and rating; champion tools that enhance speed and accuracy.
  • Travel as needed to strengthen relationships and market insight.
