Credit Manager leading credit decisions and a three-person team for JPC, which finances vehicles and equipment for Canadian businesses. Managing risk, portfolios and lending processes.
Responsibilities
Review and approve commercial and individual credit applications
Analyze financial statements, cash flow, collateral and deal structure and make clear, timely decisions
Work with Sales to find practical solutions and structure deals for JPC and customers
Develop pricing and terms that reflect risk in each deal
Set and improve credit policies, underwriting standards and approval guidelines
Monitor the portfolio, including delinquencies, losses, concentrations and emerging problems
Handle collections, workouts, repossessions, insurance claims and recoveries for problem accounts
Review credit lines and maintain security, PPSA, AML/FINTRAC and other requirements
Improve systems and processes, including automated credit decisioning
Report on portfolio performance and flag problems early
Lead and coach a team of three credit professionals
Serve as JPC’s primary credit decision maker and collaborate with Sales, Finance, Operations and Technology
Requirements
6–10 years of experience in credit risk, underwriting or portfolio management within consumer and business lending
Experience in fleet management, automotive finance, equipment finance or specialty lending
Ability to read financial statements and understand the story behind the numbers
Comfortable making decisions with incomplete information
Ability to balance risk with the commercial reality of getting deals done
Willingness to handle difficult conversations with customers and internal teams
Understanding of collections, workouts, collateral and lien management
Ability to improve processes when they are not working
Ability to lead a small team independently
Good judgment, clear communication and ownership
Post-secondary education in Finance, Business, Economics or a related field
Experience with AML/FINTRAC obligations in a lending context
Completion of the required application survey
