About the role

  • Payroll Supervisor leading compliant multi-provincial payroll processing at JLL, a global real estate and investment management company. Improving payroll systems, compliance, reporting, and team capability.

Responsibilities

  • Report to the Senior Payroll Manager
  • Lead accurate and timely multi-provincial payroll processing across all Canadian provinces and territories
  • Ensure compliance with CPP, EI, and federal/provincial tax withholdings
  • Oversee the full payroll lifecycle, including new hires, terminations, salary adjustments, bonuses, commissions, and complex off-cycle payments
  • Deliver time-card-entry training to managers and employees
  • Maintain expert knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation, Employment Standards, CRA requirements, and Quebec-specific regulations
  • Prepare and submit T4/T4A statements, Records of Employment (ROEs), Employer Health Tax (EHT) returns, and WSIB reports
  • Lead audit preparations and proactively identify compliance risks
  • Serve as the payroll-system subject matter expert, driving automation, workflow improvements, and best practices
  • Lead system upgrades, integrations, and implementations in collaboration with HR, Finance, and IT
  • Handle complex escalated inquiries while maintaining strict confidentiality
  • Partner with senior HR and Finance leadership on compensation strategy, budgeting, and workforce planning
  • Generate executive analytics, including cost analysis, variance explanations, and trend forecasting
  • Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to payroll staff locally and offshore
  • Review work, provide feedback, and build team capability through documentation and knowledge sharing

Requirements

  • 7+ years of progressive Canadian payroll experience with demonstrated multi-provincial expertise, including complex scenario resolution and Quebec’s distinct payroll system
  • Payroll Leadership Professional (PLP) certification required
  • Expert-level understanding of Canadian federal and provincial employment legislation, payroll regulations, and tax compliance
  • Experience interpreting complex legislation and applying it to unique situations
  • Strong experience with Workday, ADP Workforce Now, and Ceridian Dayforce
  • Ability to configure systems, troubleshoot complex issues, and optimize functionality
  • Expert Excel skills, including pivot tables and advanced formulas
  • Experience with reporting tools and business intelligence platforms is an asset
  • Ability to lead projects, mentor team members, and influence stakeholders
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex concepts to non-payroll audiences
  • Exceptional attention to detail and superior organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure while maintaining absolute discretion with confidential information
  • Candidates must submit their resume in English
  • Preferred: Canadian Payroll Manager (CPM) designation
  • Preferred: Knowledge of equity and international assignment payroll
  • Preferred: Bilingual English/French proficiency
  • Preferred: Background in the professional services industry
  • Preferred: Oral and/or written interaction with tenants or external partners based outside Quebec
