Public affairs leader advancing Johnson & Johnson healthcare policy, market access, and reputation priorities in Canada. Coordinating communications, stakeholder engagement, and issues preparedness across North America.
Responsibilities
Lead and implement Canada public affairs strategies aligned to enterprise, access, and therapeutic area priorities
Drive public affairs initiatives contributing to healthcare policy conversations and optimized operating conditions
Partner with Government Affairs, Market Access, Stakeholder Engagement, Legal, Regulatory, Compliance, and Commercial teams
Develop and implement launch-readiness communications and public affairs plans for new therapies, assets, and indications in Canada
Serve as a key media-relations contact and counsel leaders on external engagement in the Canadian healthcare environment
Build and maintain relationships with external partners and policy influencers
Support issues preparedness, narrative pull-through, critical incident response, and reputation stewardship
Lead and coordinate agency and partner support for public affairs, communications, and stakeholder plans
Partner with HUB and global public affairs leaders to ensure consistency, scalability, and alignment with global strategy
Potentially support public affairs work across North America, including the United States
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree required
8–10+ years of experience in public affairs, government affairs, policy, or communications
Strong understanding of the Canadian healthcare policy landscape and broader public conversation on healthcare and life sciences
Outstanding writing and communications skills
Experience translating complex topics for diverse audiences
Ability to advise and influence senior leaders
Comfort operating in a matrix environment and leading through influence
Good judgment and experience supporting issues management and reputation-critical decisions
Ability to manage multiple projects and shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment
Educational concentration in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English, Political Science, Public Policy, or related field preferred
Healthcare/pharmaceutical, government, or healthcare consulting experience preferred
French language capability preferred
