About the role

  • Team Lead maintaining KNAPP’s automated logistics systems in Varennes. Troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, PLC, and precision automation equipment for customer sites.

Responsibilities

  • Provide industrial electrical and mechanical expertise to maximize equipment utilization and efficiency
  • Assist in developing and implementing processes to maintain proper equipment utilization and functionality
  • Rectify electromechanical faults and resolve PLC-related issues
  • Provide maintenance support for automated storage and retrieval systems and storage and picking systems at customer sites
  • Respond to emergency calls at customer sites
  • Track and record problems through successful completion
  • Provide emergency breakdown and specialized maintenance support
  • Set up and calibrate precision automation equipment
  • Build effective working relationships with customers and operational agents
  • Meet expected output, response speed, repair quality, and workmanship standards
  • Train customer maintenance teams as required
  • Support installation of conveyor and precision automation equipment
  • Maintain quality communications and ensure reports are well-written and legible
  • Execute site quality, safety, and statutory procedures
  • Meet regularly with the Maintenance Shift Supervisor, Resident Site Manager, or Site Maintenance Manager to discuss activities and progress
  • Log spare-parts usage issues with the customer and KNAPP spare-parts team or CMMS
  • Maintain tools and supplied equipment
  • Submit accurate timesheets and documents with job numbers to KNAPP biweekly for approval
  • Perform mechanical strip-down/reassembly, basic field wiring, machine calibration, and system testing
  • Complete reactive repairs within required timeframes
  • Keep on-site management informed of repair and maintenance progress
  • Provide hands-on ownership of issues through timely resolution
  • Perform other duties as required

Requirements

  • Authorization to work in Canada required
  • Occasional travel required; must have a passport or ability to obtain a passport
  • Weekend work and overtime if required by workload
  • Professional office etiquette required at all times
  • Ability to meet physical requirements including sitting, squatting, walking, reaching, overhead reaching, lifting 50–100 pounds, and reading
  • Safety-conscious approach and strict adherence to KNAPP’s drug-free workplace policy
  • Expertise in electrical, mechanical, hydraulics, pneumatics, and automated equipment
  • Knowledge of 480VAC, 240VAC, 120VAC, 48VDC, 24VDC, VFDs, and PLCs; Siemens preferred
  • Mechanical aptitude, including reading assembly drawings
  • Ability to operate hand tools and disassemble and assemble equipment parts
  • Ability to follow setup instructions, assembly drawings, and checklists
  • Ability to interpret electrical circuit diagrams
  • Ability to perform risk assessments and follow health and safety procedures
  • Computer literacy and basic Microsoft Office skills
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Attention to detail and exceptional follow-up skills
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to changing role requirements
