About the role
- Senior cybersecurity engineer securing L3Harris’s mission-critical platform-management systems for military and cruise ships. Hardening Linux, networks, software, and infrastructure across the product lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Assess, implement, and manage cybersecurity and IT technologies integrated into the Integrated Platform Management System
- Strengthen the system’s security posture across all phases of the development lifecycle, from initial design to final deployment
- Work closely with software development teams, DevOps, and Integration & Test engineers
- Communicate cybersecurity concepts, provide guidance, and help prioritize security-related tasks for cross-functional teams
- Identify, assess, and remediate system vulnerabilities based on risk and impact
- Develop tools, scripts, and automation to enhance cybersecurity operations and contribute to security-relevant code
- Define and document cybersecurity requirements for software components to ensure compliance with security standards
- Deploy, configure, and maintain cybersecurity solutions to improve the overall system security posture
- Support deployments directly onboard ships when applicable
Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in cybersecurity as a Senior IT/Security Administrator, Security Engineer, or Security Architect within engineering-driven product development environments
- Experience with hardware and software product development for on-premises platforms, embedded systems, or connected devices
- Extensive Linux system administration experience, including LDAP, FreeIPA, Kerberos, RBAC, system hardening, patch and package management, SSH, certificate-based authentication, and PKI/certificate lifecycle management
- Familiarity with RBAC architecture, access model design, IAM, PAM, LDAP, Active Directory, RADIUS, and TACACS+
- Experience designing and securing enterprise or product networks, including segmentation, secure topologies, defense-in-depth, firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, Zero Trust, IPsec, TLS, RADIUS, and TACACS+
- Proficiency in secure software development, OWASP Top Ten, secure coding, penetration testing, threat modeling, SAST, DAST, and SCA
- Practical understanding of vulnerability management, software configuration management, Platform as Code, endpoint security, virtualization, and containerization
- Experience establishing and enforcing cybersecurity governance frameworks, policies, and standards; familiarity with NIST and ISO 27001
- Hands-on scripting and automation using PowerShell, Bash, Python, Ansible, and Terraform
- Ability to evaluate and strengthen security architecture of complex systems
- Excellent communication skills and ability to translate cybersecurity requirements into actionable guidance
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills
- Fluency in English required; proficiency in French is an asset
- Preferred: SIEM tools such as Splunk, QRadar, or ELK; EDR/XDR platforms; Nessus or OpenVAS
- Preferred cybersecurity certifications: CompTIA Security+, CySA+, Linux+ / RHCSA, GIAC, or OSCP
- Familiarity with Atlassian tools
- Familiarity with Agile and Scrum
- Must be eligible for registration with the Controlled Goods Program
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain Government of Canada Reliability Status and Secret Level 2/NATO Secret security clearance
