About the role

  • Data & Analytics Engineer building scalable data platforms for Ledgebrook, an insurance company. Designing pipelines, governance, and cloud data systems while partnering with technical and insurance teams.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with leadership, engineers, underwriters, and actuaries to understand data requirements
  • Design, develop, and deploy a scalable modern data stack supporting application, reporting, and business objectives
  • Design conceptual and logical data models supporting business workflows, application functionality, and reporting requirements
  • Design data architecture for pipelines moving data across multiple platforms
  • Create a data governance structure ensuring data integrity and appropriately structured information flow
  • Define security and backup procedures
  • Communicate with technical and non-technical audiences
  • Build a data-driven culture throughout the organization
  • Elevate technology and best practices in partnership with the Director of Data and Analytics Engineering

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in data engineering, designing and managing complex data systems
  • Ability to facilitate and gather business requirements and develop scalable engineering solutions
  • Strong experience with Python
  • Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC)
  • Strong experience with SQL and NoSQL databases
  • Experience with data modeling, ELT processes, and data warehousing
  • Understanding of data security and user data privacy regulations
  • Experience with cloud computing solutions such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • Experience with cloud data solutions such as Snowflake, Databricks, or BigQuery
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Looker
  • Prior startup experience is a nice to have
  • Experience with Terraform, data governance and security best practices, dbt, Fivetran, HevoData, Airflow, insurance-domain challenges, LLM applications, time series forecasting, NLP, predictive modeling, data analytics, statistics, and data science concepts are nice to haves
  • Degree in a science or engineering discipline is listed as a nice to have
  • Candidates applying from the United States, Poland, or Canada must be authorized to work in the applicable country without current or future employer-sponsored work authorization
