About the role

  • Director leading operational risk and resilience for Manulife’s Canadian retail bank. Managing controls, third-party risk, anti-fraud oversight, and resilience testing across channels.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team of 7 risk professionals, providing coaching and development opportunities
  • Manage the Bank’s Operational Risk and Resilience program in partnership with Global functions
  • Design effective monitoring and controls for operational resilience and effectiveness
  • Oversee and execute the Bank’s Third Party Risk Governance program
  • Oversee and execute testing and monitoring of regulatory and operational controls
  • Design and establish the Bank’s Anti-Fraud oversight program with Bank Fraud Operations and 2nd line Anti-Fraud
  • Oversee documentation and ongoing management of Bank policies and procedures
  • Manage the Bank’s RCSA program with Operations and 2nd line Operational and Information Risk Management
  • Manage monthly 1B updates for the Bank Leadership team, coordinating issues, audits, CAPs, and regulatory efforts
  • Support change management by identifying risks and proposing appropriate controls

Requirements

  • Experience in operational risk and/or resilience, business continuity, or risk management in financial services
  • Proven track record developing and implementing resilience strategies
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing projects
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills
  • Expert knowledge of risk management principles, best practices, and tools
  • Ability to build relationships, engage and influence others, and work with diverse subject matter experts
  • High self-motivation and ownership of project deliverables
  • Ability to direct development and maintenance of bank policies and procedures
  • Strong understanding of banking regulations
  • Experience working with internal AML, Compliance, and Risk partners
  • Bilingualism in English and French is an asset; if based in Québec, proficiency in both languages is required
