About the role

Senior Cloud Engineer focused on developing and operating cloud infrastructure for Manulife's Canadian segment. Collaborating with teams to enhance AI-assisted tooling and cloud engineering delivery.

Responsibilities

design the AKS cluster model for the Canadian segment
implement improvements to existing infrastructure with zero disruption to business operations
build an integrated end‑to‑end experience for application development teams
automate cluster maintenance tasks, operational workflows, and routine processes
continuously find opportunities to reduce manual effort, improve reliability, and enhance deployment efficiency
ensure compliance with enterprise risk and security standards
monitor and maintain the health, performance, scalability, and security of AKS clusters
partner with application development teams to ensure shared cluster model meets needs
maintain positive relationships with business partners and shared technology teams

6–10 years of experience in cloud computing (Azure strongly preferred)
expertise in automation and Infrastructure‑as‑Code (Terraform, Bicep, ARM, etc.)
experience using AI‑assisted engineering tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Azure OpenAI, or similar)
experience operating or supporting shared platform services such as shared Kubernetes clusters
strong understanding of networking and security concepts
experience with Identity and Access Management (Azure AD, RBAC)
proficiency with cloud networking infrastructure and distributed system patterns
hands‑on experience with API gateways and cloud‑based architectures
strong system administration background
scripting/programming proficiency (PowerShell, Bash, Python, etc.)
experience with containers and Kubernetes (AKS experience is an asset)
