About the role

  • Senior Data Engineer building scalable data pipelines and platforms for Sleep Country Canada, a Canadian sleep-products retailer. Enabling reliable reporting, analytics, and operational decision-making across business teams.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build scalable data pipelines and data integration processes for reporting and analytics
  • Ensure data quality, accuracy, and reliability through validation, monitoring, and issue resolution
  • Deliver clean, well-structured, accessible datasets to Business Intelligence and reporting teams
  • Optimize data performance, storage, and processing
  • Collaborate with BI, Digital, Finance, Supply Chain, and Operations teams to translate business requirements into data solutions
  • Guide and mentor junior data engineers and contribute to development standards and best practices
  • Monitor and support production data pipelines
  • Troubleshoot issues and ensure timely resolution of data incidents

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Data, or related field
  • 6 to 8 years’ experience working in data engineering, data platforms, or analytics environments
  • Strong experience with SQL and data transformation logic
  • Proficiency in Python or similar programming language
  • Experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT data pipelines
  • Familiarity with cloud data platforms; Azure preferred and GCP considered an asset
  • Understanding of data warehousing concepts and data modeling
  • Experience working with retail or transactional data environments
  • Ability to work with large datasets and optimize performance
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong communication skills and ability to explain data concepts clearly
