About the role
- Senior Data Engineer building scalable data pipelines and platforms for Sleep Country Canada, a Canadian sleep-products retailer. Enabling reliable reporting, analytics, and operational decision-making across business teams.
Responsibilities
- Design and build scalable data pipelines and data integration processes for reporting and analytics
- Ensure data quality, accuracy, and reliability through validation, monitoring, and issue resolution
- Deliver clean, well-structured, accessible datasets to Business Intelligence and reporting teams
- Optimize data performance, storage, and processing
- Collaborate with BI, Digital, Finance, Supply Chain, and Operations teams to translate business requirements into data solutions
- Guide and mentor junior data engineers and contribute to development standards and best practices
- Monitor and support production data pipelines
- Troubleshoot issues and ensure timely resolution of data incidents
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Data, or related field
- 6 to 8 years’ experience working in data engineering, data platforms, or analytics environments
- Strong experience with SQL and data transformation logic
- Proficiency in Python or similar programming language
- Experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT data pipelines
- Familiarity with cloud data platforms; Azure preferred and GCP considered an asset
- Understanding of data warehousing concepts and data modeling
- Experience working with retail or transactional data environments
- Ability to work with large datasets and optimize performance
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Strong communication skills and ability to explain data concepts clearly
