About the role

Senior Data Engineer building scalable data pipelines and platforms for Sleep Country Canada, a Canadian sleep-products retailer. Enabling reliable reporting, analytics, and operational decision-making across business teams.

Responsibilities

Design and build scalable data pipelines and data integration processes for reporting and analytics
Ensure data quality, accuracy, and reliability through validation, monitoring, and issue resolution
Deliver clean, well-structured, accessible datasets to Business Intelligence and reporting teams
Optimize data performance, storage, and processing
Collaborate with BI, Digital, Finance, Supply Chain, and Operations teams to translate business requirements into data solutions
Guide and mentor junior data engineers and contribute to development standards and best practices
Monitor and support production data pipelines
Troubleshoot issues and ensure timely resolution of data incidents

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Data, or related field
6 to 8 years’ experience working in data engineering, data platforms, or analytics environments
Strong experience with SQL and data transformation logic
Proficiency in Python or similar programming language
Experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT data pipelines
Familiarity with cloud data platforms; Azure preferred and GCP considered an asset
Understanding of data warehousing concepts and data modeling
Experience working with retail or transactional data environments
Ability to work with large datasets and optimize performance
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
Ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders
Strong communication skills and ability to explain data concepts clearly
