About the role

  • Ethical Walls Analyst managing confidential screens, compliance, and conflict-risk initiatives for Canadian law firm McCarthy Tétrault. Hybrid role based in Vancouver, Calgary, or Toronto.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the go-to expert for inquiries related to ethical walls (screens) within the firm
  • Work with General Counsel and Risk Management to devise solutions for complex business and legal conflicts
  • Oversee creation and management of confidential screens across all office locations
  • Coordinate with teams for time-sensitive onboarding and ensure compliance with ethical screens
  • Prepare and distribute no-contact memos and audit reports
  • Manage sensitive information effectively
  • Manage security for specialized working groups and confidential files
  • Review and update screens to ensure integrity and accuracy
  • Analyze and optimize existing screens and identify improvement opportunities
  • Support the conflicts and file-opening team and handle ad hoc projects

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in legal, professional services, conflicts, risk management, or a related field
  • Post-secondary education in accounting, database management, or related fields
  • Strong foundation in accounting principles
  • Bilingualism in English and French is a valuable asset
  • Excellent multitasking abilities and ability to work under tight deadlines
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Familiarity with business and legal terminology
