About the role

  • Remote Field Representative delivering OSCIA workshops, cost-share support, and project inspections. Engaging Ontario farmers and partners to advance sustainable agriculture programs.

Responsibilities

  • Support program delivery across multiple counties and districts according to OSCIA procedures
  • Conduct virtual and in-person workshops, including logistics, delivery, reporting, and administration
  • Co-deliver workshops with Technical Advisors
  • Promote cost-share opportunities and assist with research initiatives through public engagement
  • Liaise with farmers by phone, email, and in person regarding cost-share applications and claims
  • Conduct on-site or virtual inspections of approved cost-share projects
  • Assist with information sessions about funding opportunities and program modifications
  • Provide accurate information aligned with operational procedures and funding guidelines
  • Identify efficiencies, share field insights, and incorporate client feedback to improve programs
  • Participate in agricultural events, producer meetings, conferences, workshops, and networking opportunities
  • Represent OSCIA in sustainable agriculture programming and knowledge transfer
  • Build and maintain relationships with farm organizations, agribusinesses, and partner organizations
  • Maintain confidentiality and data security in electronic and physical filing systems
  • Participate in team meetings, planning sessions, and staff training
  • Contribute to program messaging and outreach strategies
  • Track and report client feedback for process improvements
  • Travel within the assigned district and occasionally outside the region for support, training, or events
  • Prioritize seasonal workloads around farmer schedules and program timelines

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in agriculture, environmental sciences, or a related discipline; equivalent work experience considered
  • Strong understanding of Ontario agriculture, including environmental and economic farm sustainability, biosecurity, soil health, water quality, and best management practices
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating adult education sessions or agricultural workshops
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills when working with farming audiences
  • Customer service experience supporting producers or agricultural clients
  • Ability to engage farm businesses and encourage participation in programs
  • Strong administrative, coordination, and organizational skills
  • Ability to adapt to changing environments and learn new concepts quickly
  • Skilled in a wide range of computer applications and technology
  • Valid Ontario Class G driver’s license required
  • Familiarity with agricultural funding programs and sustainability practices
  • Knowledge of rural community dynamics and Ontario farm operations
  • Strong presentation and adult-learning facilitation skills
  • Computer literacy and comfort with virtual platforms and digital tools
  • Excellent time management and administrative tracking
  • Ability to work independently and in a team while managing a flexible schedule
  • Reliable transportation required
  • Dependable, high-speed internet connection required for virtual meetings and online collaboration
  • Ability to work early mornings, evenings, and weekends as needed
  • Ability to occasionally lift files, laptops, and workshop materials up to 20 lbs
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality
