About the role
- Part-time Field Representative delivering OSCIA workshops, cost-share programs, and inspections. Engaging Ontario farmers and agricultural partners to support sustainable rural agriculture.
Responsibilities
- Support delivery of OSCIA programming across multiple counties and districts
- Conduct virtual and in-person workshops, including logistics, delivery, reporting, and administration
- Collaborate with Technical Advisors to co-deliver workshops
- Promote OSCIA cost-share opportunities and assist with research initiatives through public engagement
- Liaise with farmers by phone, email, and in person regarding cost-share applications and claims
- Conduct on-site or virtual inspections of approved cost-share projects
- Assist with information sessions about funding opportunities and program modifications
- Provide accurate information aligned with procedures and funding guidelines
- Identify efficiencies, share field insights, and incorporate client feedback to improve programs
- Participate in agricultural events, producer meetings, conferences, workshops, and networking opportunities
- Represent OSCIA in sustainable agriculture programming and knowledge transfer
- Establish and maintain relationships with farm organizations, agri-businesses, and partners
- Maintain confidentiality and data security across filing systems
- Participate in team meetings, planning sessions, and staff training
- Contribute to program messaging and outreach strategies
- Track and report client feedback
- Travel within the assigned district and occasionally outside the region for support, training, or events
- Prioritize seasonal workloads according to farmer schedules and program timelines
- Track workshop delivery, project support, reporting compliance, stakeholder engagement, and process improvements
Requirements
- Post-secondary education in agriculture, environmental sciences, or a related discipline; equivalent work experience considered
- Strong understanding of Ontario agriculture, including environmental and economic farm sustainability, biosecurity, soil health, water quality, and best management practices
- Demonstrated experience facilitating adult education sessions or agricultural workshops
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, particularly when working with farming audiences
- Customer service experience supporting producers or agricultural clients
- Ability to engage farm businesses and encourage active participation in programs
- Strong administrative, coordination, and organizational skills
- Ability to adapt and quickly learn new concepts
- Skilled in using a wide range of computer applications and technology
- Valid Ontario Class G driver’s license required
- Familiarity with agricultural funding programs and sustainability practices
- Knowledge of rural community dynamics and Ontario farm operations
- Strong presentation and facilitation skills for adult learning
- Computer literacy and comfort with virtual platforms and digital tools
- Excellent time management and administrative tracking
- Ability to work in team and independent environments while managing a flexible schedule
- Ability to respond to farmer needs and prioritize seasonal workloads
- Reliable transportation required
- Dependable, high-speed internet connection for virtual meetings and online collaboration
- Ability to work outside standard business hours, including early mornings, evenings, or weekends
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs occasionally
- Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality
