About the role
- Occupational Therapist providing community-based assessments and treatment for pediatric and adult clients. Supporting ParaMed’s home health care services through multidisciplinary collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Provide community visits to assess abilities and needs of individuals
- Work with multidisciplinary teams and equipment vendors to facilitate function
- Provide treatment for pediatric clients in home or school services and/or adults with medical/health concerns
- Work collaboratively with healthcare workers and other community resources
- Analyze physical, cultural, social and institutional environmental impacts on occupational performance and engagement
- Develop client-centered plans with clients and inter-professional teams
- Adjust services to reflect a client-centered approach across physical, social, cultural, institutional, and economic environments
- Apply effective, evidence-based problem solving and judgment to address client needs
- Engage clients collaboratively, building rapport and trust and reaching mutual understanding regarding services
- Maintain current knowledge, skills, and attitudes to provide safe, efficient, effective service
- Maintain professional client records in compliance with ParaMed policies and regulatory standards
Requirements
- Registration with the provincial College of Occupational Therapists (in good standing)
- Accepting New Graduates Licensed
- ADP authorization preferred
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of applicable community resources available for clients and families
- Current certification (within the past 12 months) of First Aid and CPR
- A valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
- Able to provide a current, clear Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSS)
