About the role

  • Senior IT Project Manager delivering Alberta government AI, M365, and cloud modernization projects. Coordinating planning, governance, stakeholders, risks, budgets, and implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, develop, document, and deliver multiple Artificial Intelligence, M365, and Cloud-related projects from analysis through implementation
  • Coordinate and complete IT projects and oversee all project aspects
  • Set deadlines, assign responsibilities, monitor progress, and summarize project status
  • Build and maintain working relationships with team members, vendors, and other departments
  • Prepare reports for upper management on project status
  • Compile project charters and business/project plans
  • Manage projects documenting business requirements and designing and delivering IT solutions compliant with enterprise architecture
  • Develop recommendations covering resource requirements, dependencies, interdependencies, policy implications, and methodology
  • Produce and package deliverables for internal support teams, steering committees, and stakeholders
  • Manage multiple projects, project resources, and project governance
  • Ensure effective project communication and escalate risks as required
  • Manage client relationships and resolve hurdles to achieve win-win solutions
  • Collaborate with business and IT leadership to develop project plans covering objectives, scope, assumptions, timelines, resources, risks, benefits, and budget
  • Develop project organization structures with defined stakeholder roles and responsibilities
  • Report project status against objectives, milestones, budget, and resources; track and close issues and risks
  • Develop schedules and strategies, estimate resources, monitor work plans, and take corrective action
  • Guide project resources in establishing priorities and delivering tasks
  • Develop related requirements documentation as needed
  • Assess project outcomes and identify future improvement opportunities
  • Provide leadership and assistance for change management and communication support
  • Work within or help define project management office standards

Requirements

  • Working knowledge and experience of IT infrastructure environments, including general concepts of workstation/server hardware
  • Knowledge of software build and push strategies
  • General understanding of line-of-business applications and architectures
  • Sound understanding of IT Change and Communication Management frameworks
  • Sound understanding of User Acceptance Testing frameworks
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to function independently and in a team environment
  • Awareness of existing GoA and department IT policies, procedures, standards, guidelines and practices is an asset
