About the role

  • Senior Level Artist creating playable Unreal Engine levels for People Can Fly, an independent AAA game studio. Building world geometry, modular assets, and set dressing for next-generation action games.

Responsibilities

  • Produce playable levels based on Art directors' vision and Level design needs.
  • Collaborate with Concept Art, Character Art, Environment Art, Tech Art, Level Design, and Animation.
  • Maintain artistic direction and quality.
  • Create world geometry and level composition in Unreal Engine.
  • Redesign existing assets into new forms.
  • Block out modules and levels and create first/proxy materials.
  • Produce work within specifications and maintain workflow pipelines within deadlines.
  • Model proxy assets.
  • Participate in reviews and implement feedback from leads and peers.
  • Participate in R&D initiatives to explore new techniques and improve pipelines and workflows.

Requirements

  • Strong portfolio showcasing playable levels with created geometry.
  • Experience and knowledge of industry-standard 3D modeling software: Maya, Max/3dsMax, Blender, ZBrush, Photoshop, or equivalents.
  • Ability to artistically interpret concepts or creatively push beyond initial ideation.
  • Demonstration of narrative set dressing.
  • Solid understanding of traditional art skills and foundational design competencies, including composition, layout, shape, form, texture, value, and color.
  • Experience working with Unreal Engine or equivalent.
  • Full understanding of modular workflows.
  • Ability to use PBR shaders and normal maps.
  • Ability to receive and implement feedback.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new styles, techniques, and workflows.
  • Ability to collaborate with department leads and different departments to solve artistic and technical challenges.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • At least 3 years of experience in AAA console/PC game development, including 1 year with Unreal Engine.
  • Nice-to-have: traditional art skills with typography, color, and light; Unreal 4/5 experience; environment modeling skills; level design experience.
