About the role

  • Systems Administrator supporting Postmedia’s Canadian news media operations. Managing enterprise applications, Microsoft platforms, service delivery, security and technology projects across distributed locations.

Responsibilities

  • Support and manage the lifecycle of enterprise applications and business systems
  • Lead application support, service desk and end-user service activities
  • Manage incidents, escalations, outages, problem resolution and service-quality oversight
  • Translate business needs into practical application and technology solutions
  • Improve business and support processes through automation, training and documentation
  • Lead and develop internal, remote and external technical-support resources
  • Lead cross-functional technology projects, implementations, upgrades, migrations and organizational change
  • Administer Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, Intune, Azure, Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID environments
  • Coordinate onboarding, transfers, terminations, licensing, access provisioning and access reviews
  • Manage vendor relationships, proposals, licensing, contracts, budgets, procurement and telecommunications services
  • Support security governance, risk assessments, audits, vulnerability remediation, incident response and business continuity
  • Develop operational metrics, project reports, service summaries, risk updates and technical documentation
  • Apply ITIL practices across incident, request, problem, change, knowledge and asset management

Requirements

  • Postsecondary diploma or degree in information technology, computer systems, network engineering, cybersecurity, business systems or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience
  • Approximately five to eight years of progressive experience in enterprise IT, application support, systems analysis, service delivery or business technology
  • Experience leading technical employees, application-support teams, vendors, projects or cross-functional initiatives
  • Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, application architecture, system integration and software-development methodologies
  • Experience managing enterprise applications and Microsoft-based technology environments
  • Experience with ERP, finance, HR, supply-chain, distribution or other operational business systems
  • Project-management experience for application upgrades, implementations, migrations and organizational change
  • Experience with vendor and service-provider management
  • Strong written, verbal, leadership, customer-service and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision and collaborate across technical and business teams
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a geographically distributed operational environment
  • ITIL Foundation or equivalent service-management experience is preferred
  • ServiceNow, Microsoft, SQL, security or project-management training is considered an asset
  • Regular onsite attendance, periodic travel, on-call participation and occasional evening/weekend work are required
