About the role

Children and youth ministry worker coordinating Salvation Army discipleship, outreach and leadership programs. Mentoring youth and partnering with churches and community resources in Victoria.

Responsibilities

Coordinate activities associated with discipleship and outreach ministries for church and community youth
Mentor, disciple, encourage and model appropriate Christian attitudes and behaviours
Coordinate, plan, implement, maintain and assist in evaluating youth programs and ministries
Plan and conduct creative worship services, evangelistic outreach, care programs, visitation and Bible studies as applicable
Pray with and lead youth and family members to faith in Jesus Christ as opportunity permits
Develop and implement leadership development programs for youth and youth leaders
Recruit, orient and train volunteer leaders
Work with church administrative and pastoral caregivers on problem-solving
Follow church security procedures to ensure participant safety and information confidentiality
Interact with community partners and resources, including possible participation on community committees
Maintain written records, activity reports and statistical information
Perform other duties as assigned

Completed high school, plus specialized courses of up to 6 months
An alternative level of education and experience may be acceptable
Youth leadership training
Biblical studies
Criminal Police Investigation Check (CPIC)
One year but less than three years of prior related experience, including experience working with children and youth
Ability and willingness to successfully undergo applicable screening and background checks satisfactory to The Salvation Army, including the Salvation Army Abuse Registry
Ability to lift more than 20 pounds
Ability to participate in sports activities, keyboard, occasionally transport youth, and stand
Attention when teaching, giving advice/peer support, studying, planning and development
