About the role

  • Production Technician operating and troubleshooting grinding equipment for Schaeffler Aerospace Canada. Supporting aerospace production quality, maintenance, documentation, and operator training.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, calibrate, operate, and troubleshoot all equipment or processes in the assigned area at an advanced level
  • Provide advanced technical support to operators regarding machinery, tooling, process gauging, and production print interpretation
  • Assist with Material Review Board procedures for quality issues
  • Generate rework routers, inspection method sheets, drawings, and other documentation for the MRB process
  • Assist the Leader with coordinating and scheduling work in the assigned area
  • Coordinate and schedule work by others in the absence of the Leader
  • Assist with commissioning or running new equipment, machinery, processes, and prototypes
  • Ensure the quality and quantity of work produced by the process
  • Monitor production processes according to the maintenance schedule and perform routine maintenance
  • Inspect own work using precision measuring equipment
  • Record data in routers, IMS, and other production tracking systems
  • Train other operators as needed
  • Work in other departments or set up processes for other operators when required
  • Access production procedures using computer systems
  • Maintain excellent housekeeping and 5S standards
  • Meet training-matrix skill requirements and maintain certification through the Certified Operator Program

Requirements

  • Grade 12 diploma required
  • General machinist license required for CNC production cells
  • Demonstrated competency in all facets of cell/department operations
  • High level of mechanical aptitude and/or certification in skills related to the associated discipline
  • Knowledge of production and quality systems
  • Adequate computer skills to access production procedures
  • Ability to pass Canadian Controlled Goods Assessment
  • Must pass a criminal background check
  • Must be compliant with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)
  • Candidates on temporary work permits may require a Canadian government exemption for access to export-controlled goods
