Responsibilities
Use AI-assisted development tools, where appropriate, to design, develop, test, document, and deploy components of Messaging Security Group services
Design and implement product components across the full software stack with strong test coverage and automation
Deliver against project timelines, quality expectations, and requirements
Participate in project planning and deliver high-value solutions meeting business needs
Analyze and understand project requirements
Participate in product design aligned with technical strategy, quality standards, and functional requirements
Mentor junior team members through pair programming and code reviews
Contribute to daily stand-ups, kick-offs, collaborative estimation, and retrospective meetings
Participate in security reviews and analyze product security concerns
Present security documentation
Contribute to code reviews
Define test scenarios and test cases
Collaborate with senior development leaders, architects, product management, and the global Sophos UI team
May lead projects under the guidance of an architect or senior technical lead
Perform other duties and responsibilities as directed
Requirements
7+ years of professional software engineering experience shipping production services
Experience using AI-assisted development tools, such as Claude and Codex
5+ years of experience in software development using Java, JavaScript, Angular, GoLang, and possibly React
5+ years of experience developing and deploying micro-services in AWS (ECS or EKS)
Confidence in designing, implementing and testing software systems and components
Confidence in presenting your design in front of the Tech Council
Ability to read code and review PRs
Experience working with best-of-breed cloud technologies and troubleshooting large-scale cloud-based applications
Legal authorization to work in Canada without requiring employer sponsorship
