About the role

  • Workshop Instructor teaching Stenberg College students practical personal care and safe body mechanics. Delivering hands-on healthcare and patient-handling instruction in Surrey, British Columbia.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate Personal Care and/or Body Mechanics workshops for students preparing for careers in healthcare or school environments
  • Deliver hands-on, practical instruction designed to build students’ confidence and competence in essential personal care and safe patient-handling skills
  • Provide practical instruction on safe body mechanics to prevent injury when lifting, transferring, and positioning clients, and supporting clients using mobility aids
  • Prepare Education Assistant students to use safe and respectful approaches to personal hygiene and grooming, oral care, and bathroom and toileting routines
  • Tailor workshop content to the specific student group and their future career needs

Requirements

  • Must be a member in good standing with their relevant professional body (BCCNM or the BC Care Aide Registry)
  • Must have a minimum of five years current experience as either a Health Care Assistant (HCA), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), or Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Prior teaching experience is an asset
