About the role

  • Financial Planner developing holistic plans for affluent clients and supporting Sun Life’s insurance and financial services advisors. Delivering regional training and driving holistic planning growth.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and design holistic financial plans addressing client goals and needs through risk management, retirement planning, tax planning and estate planning strategies
  • Organize regional training for Sun Life Advisors on financial planning topics
  • Collaborate with Advanced Case Managers and Insurance Sales Distributors to provide insurance solutions
  • Stay up to date on financial planning, wealth management, tax and estate planning
  • Cultivate and manage relationships with field leaders, Sun Life Advisors and senior leaders
  • Drive business growth strategy for Sun Life Advisors as a trusted partner for holistic planning
  • Prepare and deliver holistic financial plans to mass affluent and high-net-worth individuals
  • Partner with Sun Life Advisors and Field Leaders in delivering financial plans and regional training through virtual and on-site sessions
  • Report to the Regional Director of Estate and Financial Planning Services

Requirements

  • Certified Financial Planner (CFP) certification is mandatory
  • Professional designations such as TEP, CLU or CPA are an asset
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in financial planning or a similar field
  • Comprehensive understanding of financial planning principles and practices
  • Proficient in utilizing Sun Life Financial Distributors' planning tools, specifically Conquest software
  • Exceptional oral and written communication abilities
  • Proven talent in facilitation and delivering presentations
  • Adept at building and maintaining professional relationships
  • Demonstrated capacity for self-direction and independent work
  • Keen analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to explain complex financial concepts in simple terms
  • Time management and organizational skills to handle multiple clients
  • Familiarity with digital tools for virtual client meetings and remote collaboration (e.g. MS Teams, Zoom)
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment with other financial professionals
  • Mandarin proficiency (written and spoken) is an asset
