About the role

  • Security Operations Engineer securing Tailscale’s software for safe device and network connections. Managing endpoints, identity access, platforms, automation, and data loss prevention.

Responsibilities

  • Manage devices through MDM policies, BYOD, patch and vulnerability management, troubleshooting, and general macOS, Linux, and Windows OS management
  • Support key platforms including Google Workspace, Jira, and GitHub
  • Automate processes such as self-service access and patching
  • Manage access using OIDC, SAML, and SCIM
  • Perform data loss prevention and mitigation
  • Oversee technology decisions with Engineering Leadership, ensuring alignment with company-wide IT standards

Requirements

  • Prior experience in a security-related or adjacent technical role
  • Knowledge of operating systems and security mechanisms
  • Knowledge of common networking protocols
  • Knowledge of common authentication and user management protocols (OIDC, SAML, SCIM)
  • Knowledge of Google Workspace Security and Device Management
  • Experience with MDM products such as Jamf, Kandji, Fleet, or Intune
  • Ability to give and process constructive feedback
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Flexibility to adjust to the dynamic nature of a startup
  • Experience with Jira workflows and automation (nice to have)
  • Application and/or Infrastructure security experience (nice to have)
  • Go, Python, or bash scripting (preferred)
