About the role
- Senior Security Operations Engineer monitoring incidents and leading forensics for Samsara’s IoT-connected operations platform. Building security automation and supporting insider-threat investigations.
Responsibilities
- Monitor security events and provide technical analysis on alerts
- Lead information security incidents and employee investigations
- Develop incident response strategies and lead execution through incident closure
- Provide incident updates to key stakeholders throughout incidents
- Deliver clear, concise security guidance for incident response and insider threat initiatives
- Coordinate development of services, capabilities, integrations, and technology implementations supporting security operations, incident response, and insider threat
- Create and maintain runbooks and automated workflows
- Assist with process refinement and implementation
- Collaborate with analysts, engineers, and key stakeholders on company-wide security initiatives
- Mentor and train security operations engineers
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in Security Incident Response
- Ability to communicate investigative findings and strategies to technical staff, executive leadership, and legal
- Proficiency in Python and ability to build scripts or tools for investigation processes
- Ability to mentor and train security operations engineers on data collection, analysis, and reporting
- Practical experience leading security incident response, including monitoring and triaging alerts and coordinating across teams
- Understanding of analysis and forensics techniques on macOS, Windows, and Linux
- Experience using SIEM tools for log reviews
- Experience in cloud architecture and security, including AWS and GCP
- Must reside in the Pacific, Mountain, or Central Time Zone of the United States or Canada
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field, or relevant industry experience (ideal candidate qualification)
- GIAC Certified Incident Handler (GCIH) Certification (ideal candidate qualification)
- Familiarity with NIST Cybersecurity Framework, ISO 27001, and FedRAMP (ideal candidate qualification)
