About the role
- Senior DevOps Engineer developing AWS cloud solutions for TELUS SmartHome+. Lead architecture and enhance security for connected devices.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and manage robust AWS cloud infrastructure for SmartHome+ services using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles
- Architect multi-region, highly available systems leveraging AWS services (ECS, EKS, Lambda, S3, DynamoDB, IoT Core, Kinesis etc)
- Optimize cloud costs while maintaining the performance, security, and reliability standards required for home security and monitoring services
- Implement and maintain container orchestration platforms (ECS, EKS, Kubernetes) for SmartHome+ microservices
- Develop automation scripts, tools, and frameworks primarily using TypeScript and Node.js
- Build custom tooling to improve developer productivity and operational efficiency across the SmartHome+ engineering teams
- Lead technical design reviews and provide guidance on system architecture decisions for connected home devices and monitoring platforms
- Mentor junior engineers and promote DevOps best practices across SmartHome+ engineering teams
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, or Platform Engineering roles
- 5+ years of hands-on experience architecting and managing AWS infrastructure at scale
- Proven track record of designing and implementing large-scale distributed systems, preferably in IoT, connected devices, or consumer technology
- Experience in a high-growth technology environment or enterprise-scale organization
- Deep knowledge of AWS core services, multi-account environments, and well-architected framework
- Experience with AWS networking (VPC, Load Balancers, etc)
- Strong understanding of AWS security best practices (IAM, KMS, Secrets Manager, Security Groups)
- Hands-on experience with containerization (EKS/ECS, Kubernetes, Docker)
- Strong proficiency in TypeScript and Node.js for building infrastructure tools, automation
- Strong scripting skills (Bash, Python).
