About the role

  • Senior Graphics Engineer developing high-performance C++ rendering systems for thatgamecompany’s social game. Optimizing graphics across platforms, especially mobile devices.

Responsibilities

  • Develop high-performance C++ systems for the proprietary game engine, focusing on real-time rendering, performance, and scalability
  • Design, implement, and maintain rendering features, core engine components, tools, and graphics pipelines
  • Profile and optimize GPU and CPU performance across a wide range of devices, particularly mobile
  • Write clean, maintainable code with clear documentation and code-level comments
  • Collaborate with engine team members, gameplay engineers, artists, and designers to deliver high-quality game experiences across supported devices and platforms
  • Mentor others, share best practices, and stay current with graphics and platform trends

Requirements

  • Expert-level C++ development skills
  • Deep knowledge of performance tuning, multithreading, and low-level engine systems
  • Experience shipping large-scale 3D games across multiple platforms
  • Experience with game engines and art/content pipelines
  • Deep understanding of modern rendering pipelines and graphics APIs, including Vulkan and Metal
  • Proficiency with GPU profiling and debugging tools
  • At least 6 years of game industry experience
  • Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.
  • Must be able to work core meeting hours from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific time
