About the role

  • Editor leading The Globe and Mail’s Intelligence Unit on major issues shaping Canada’s future. Directing expert collaboration, multidisciplinary journalism and multi-platform editorial products.

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute the editorial vision for the Intelligence Unit
  • Identify and prioritize major national issues for investigation each year
  • Build and manage a network of external experts, contributors and advisors
  • Lead a multidisciplinary editorial team across print, digital, video, audio and live events
  • Commission and oversee deep reporting, analysis and explanatory journalism
  • Work with reporters, data journalists, product, audience and design teams to create distinctive editorial experiences
  • Ensure accuracy, fairness and editorial integrity
  • Represent The Globe in public-facing events

Requirements

  • At least five years of editorial leadership experience in a national or major newsroom
  • Proven leadership experience managing teams and complex projects
  • Strong news judgment and deep understanding of Canadian public affairs
  • Experience working across multiple formats and platforms
  • Ability to synthesize and communicate complex ideas clearly
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and comfort building new editorial products
