About the role

  • Director of Health, Safety and Environment for Veriforce Canada, leading national strategy and compliance while ensuring continuous improvement in safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Define and implement the Canadian HSE strategy aligned with corporate objectives and regulatory requirements
  • Serve as the lead HSE advisor to the President – Canada and the executive team
  • Oversee the development, governance, and continuous improvement of contractor compliance and risk management standards
  • Ensure compliance with Canadian federal and provincial health, safety and environmental laws
  • Represent Veriforce Canada in industry forums, regulatory bodies, and sector associations
  • Drive audit programs, quality assurance, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Collaborate with Sales and Client teams to support strategic commitments and complex risk discussions
  • Monitor competitor activity, regulatory developments, and emerging ESG trends
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing national HSE and compliance team
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and operational excellence

Requirements

  • Over 10 years of progressive leadership experience in HSE within industrial, energy, construction, or other heavily regulated sectors
  • Bilingual (French and English)
  • Strong knowledge of HSE laws and regulatory frameworks at the federal and provincial levels in Canada
  • Experience implementing an HSE strategy at a national or multi-site level
  • Solid understanding of contractor management, supply chain risk, and compliance systems
  • Proven ability to influence executive stakeholders and regulatory bodies
  • Industry-recognized certification (e.g., CRSP, CSP)
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in occupational health and safety, environmental science, or a related field
  • Willingness to travel nationally
  • Membership in CSSE or another recognized professional HSE association
