About the role
- Full Stack Engineer building AI-enhanced lecture engagement features for Top Hat’s higher-education platform. Developing scalable React and Python-framework products for professors and students.
Responsibilities
- Provide professors and students with a platform to interact during lecture sessions
- Lead key initiatives through the full software development lifecycle, from discovery and planning to development and release
- Collaborate with Product, Design, and Engineering peers
- Propose ideas, experiment with solutions, and iterate on technology and products
- Use new AI technology to improve how the team builds and operates
- Work in a cross-functional scrum team to design and build scalable, user-focused features
- Resolve bugs and handle individual tickets
- Ensure continuous improvement of products
- Build features that support engaging classroom experiences for students and educators
Requirements
- 3 + years of experience in full-stack software development
- Front-end proficiency, ideally with React
- Back-end experience; Django and FastAPI are used, with similar experience in other frameworks welcome
- Proactive problem-solving and ability to navigate ambiguity
- Innovation-focused mindset and interest in experimentation
- Exceptional written and verbal communication and active listening
- Ability to bridge technical and non-technical audiences
- Commitment to writing reliable, tested code and owning work quality
- Legally eligible to work in Canada
