About the role

  • University of Alberta academic programs manager overseeing health sciences student services. Leading staff, budgets, course scheduling, governance, admissions, and enrolment management.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee staff within the Student Services unit, including student advisors and WIL coordinators
  • Mentor and coach staff to foster a service-oriented environment
  • Provide regular feedback and annual performance reviews for direct reports and monitor indirect reports
  • Ensure appropriate training and development opportunities for staff
  • Develop budgets and forecasts for academic program areas
  • Allocate and control fiscal resources for budgetary control and accountability
  • Direct course scheduling, course offerings, and space allocation for academic programs
  • Collaborate with faculties to confirm course offerings, schedules, and enrolment
  • Review enrolment reports and data and adjust course offerings or schedules
  • Ensure undergraduate and graduate courses have instructors and teaching assistants assigned
  • Prepare academic program proposals with the Academic Initiatives and Governance Officer
  • Manage program reviews, task forces, and ad hoc committees
  • Provide information, advice, reports, and support to curriculum committees
  • Monitor and adjust admissions-cycle activities to meet enrolment targets and funding requirements
  • Brief the College Dean, Associate Dean Education, and Academic Director on enrolment progress
  • Provide recommendations and implement decisions

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree is required; Master's degree preferred, in a related field such as health or business administration
  • A minimum of 5 years in student services, advising, admissions, or related areas
  • Extensive knowledge of the University of Alberta’s policies, procedures and operating requirements
