About the role

  • Student Recruiter promoting University of Alberta undergraduate programs to prospective students across Canada. Delivering presentations, advising applicants, and coordinating recruitment events.

Responsibilities

  • Travel across Alberta and Canada to recruit prospective students at high schools and special events through presentations, booth fairs, and one-on-one advising.
  • Deliver pre-tour presentations for prospective students, parents, and campus visitors.
  • Promote the University of Alberta at recruitment events through extensive public speaking.
  • Collaborate with the National Recruitment team and Student Recruitment department on strategic initiatives, event planning, virtual initiatives, and the U of A Ambassador Program.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with high school counsellors and other key stakeholders.
  • Respond to prospective student inquiries by phone, email, in-person advising, and virtual advising.
  • Assist with research projects, compile data, and evaluate event effectiveness.
  • Propose innovative ways to improve prospective student engagement.
  • Report engagement, lead generation, publications distributed, event attendance, and other event outcomes.
  • Collect prospective-student leads and monitor their progression through the enrolment funnel.
  • Assist applicants with admission applications and troubleshoot admission challenges.
  • Encourage offer acceptance and yield to increase University of Alberta enrolment.
  • Keep admitted students engaged and implement yield initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary diploma required; university degree preferred.
  • One to two years of related experience is an asset.
  • Experience presenting to large groups.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, time management and customer service skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to maintain high levels of professionalism.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of University of Alberta policies and procedures is an asset.
  • Must possess a valid Alberta Class 5 (non-GDL) driver’s license.
  • Must provide a recent three-year driver’s abstract with no more than six demerits and/or two moving violations within the last two years.
  • Ability to lift and carry approximately 20–30 kg, including in awkward or overhead positions while setting up displays.
  • Ability to undertake extended periods of driving and air travel.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Products, including Gmail; knowledge of PeopleSoft and Slate is an asset.
  • Fluency in French is an asset.
