About the role

  • Student recruitment partner advancing undergraduate enrolment for University of Alberta’s Engineering, Science, and Agricultural, Life & Environmental Sciences faculties. Developing recruitment strategies, events, communications, and advising programs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional, informed and creative advice to the Student Recruitment Director, Assistant Registrar, faculty/program contacts, and College-level leadership on recruitment strategies, tactics, and messaging.
  • Develop and evaluate faculty-specific recruitment plans and tactics aligned with institutional direction and recruitment efforts.
  • Ensure strategies and plans support Access, Community and Belonging objectives.
  • Coordinate integrated approaches supporting faculty and institutional enrolment objectives and student recruitment goals.
  • Cultivate and enhance relationships with students, parents, alumni, secondary institutions, and post-secondary institutions.
  • Advise on factors impacting student recruitment, identify opportunities and risks, and recommend risk-management strategies.
  • Provide content expertise and collaborate with communications and Recruitment Marketing on presentations, publications, marketing, promotional initiatives, social media promotions, and related initiatives.
  • Build collaborative partnerships with Student Recruitment, International Recruitment, Indigenous Enrolment Management, Enrolment Management Service Partners, and other leaders.
  • Develop and lead training on College faculties and programs for recruitment staff.
  • Maintain current training manuals, knowledge base articles, and other recruitment resources.
  • Lead work division and task assignments for Student Recruiters supporting the College.
  • Allocate and monitor resources and budgets effectively.
  • Lead a team of 3 Student Recruiters to organize, deliver, and evaluate in-person and virtual recruitment events, presentations, yield activities, prospective student communications, and advising for incoming undergraduate students.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree.
  • A passion for student recruitment, service excellence, an inherent drive to add value, and a deep rooted belief that our collective purpose is to serve the University of Alberta, its prospective students, and their influencers.
  • An understanding of prospective student recruitment best practice and experience in the field of student recruitment.
  • A drive to meet and exceed goals, embrace challenges, foster engagement and ensure key priorities are set with a proactive plan to deliver.
  • Superb presentation and written communication skills that influences and inspires prospective students, their influencers, and builds trust-based relationships with colleagues and partners.
  • Ability to develop and maintain high levels of trust and credibility, act with integrity and tact, and demonstrate respect and empathy.
  • Evolved problem solving and critical thinking skills to analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, assess consequences of proposed actions, choose the most appropriate solution and implement successfully.
  • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment, manage diversity, manage change, and establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • The capacity and flexibility to excel within a challenging and fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities, deadlines and deliverables.
  • Understanding of Access, Community and Belonging.
  • Familiarity with Alberta K-12, Campus Alberta, and all other secondary and post-secondary education systems in Canada.
  • A valid non-GDL Class 5 driver’s license is strongly preferred.
