About the role

  • Senior Portfolio Manager leading Zebra’s service offerings and product lifecycle strategy. Overseeing teams, pricing, financial performance, roadmaps, and market-driven innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee a team of subordinate Portfolio Managers, providing direction, coaching, and support
  • Ensure successful execution for assigned service offers and product lifecycle programs
  • Oversee tactical enablement, custom requirements, Product Line transitions, and discontinuations
  • Recommend and oversee portfolio strategy development and execution
  • Anticipate market and customer requirements for assigned product lines or portfolios
  • Oversee and approve VOC, competitive landscape, and beta planning activities
  • Monitor target markets and identify innovation opportunities
  • Manage portfolios directly when needed
  • Develop and present business cases using research, authored slides, and presentations
  • Monitor and report business metrics against plan
  • Recommend metrics to assess business performance
  • Provide IBP inputs
  • Develop and approve product and market requirements documentation
  • Own product lifecycle management for assigned product lines/families
  • Develop and drive end-of-life plans and inventory objectives
  • Delegate and oversee tactical objectives for Portfolio Manager team members
  • Contribute to 3–5-year roadmap development and long-term product-line strategy
  • Approve pricing and promotion strategies to maximize sales and profitability
  • Approve distribution strategy recommendations
  • Review and approve product training materials for internal and external stakeholders
  • Oversee new service development and validate development against specifications
  • Identify beta-site targets and implement beta plans
  • Monitor financial performance and recommend pricing actions
  • Set target product costs for new products
  • Evaluate and manage cost-reduction initiatives with Sustaining Engineering, Finance, and other internal partners
  • Generate ideas for new offerings
  • Directly supervise one or more Portfolio Managers

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 12+ years’ experience in portfolio management, or similar
  • Minimum of 5+ years leading a team
  • Must be located in Canada
  • Ability to work a hybrid schedule (3 days in office/2 days remote) out of Zebra’s Mississauga office
  • Advanced degree preferred
  • Experience directly supervising, coaching, and developing subordinate Portfolio or Product Managers
  • Proven success delegating tactical objectives while maintaining strategic oversight
  • Experience owning product/service lines of moderate-to-high complexity
  • Experience contributing to 3–5 year strategic roadmaps
  • Experience translating market research (VOC) into formal product requirements
  • Experience managing the entire product lifecycle
  • Expertise executing complex End-of-Life plans, product line transitions, discontinuations, and associated inventory objectives
  • Experience monitoring revenue and margin performance
  • Experience setting target costs for new products
  • Experience partnering with Finance and Sustaining Engineering on cost-reduction initiatives
  • Experience authoring and approving pricing strategies
  • Experience collaborating on promotional plans with Product Marketing
  • Experience approving technical training/enablement materials for Sales and Technical Support
  • Accountability for delivering IBP inputs
  • Ability to build business cases autonomously, author executive-level presentations, and report performance metrics to senior leadership
